Focus: In these grades, Science splits into three distinct branches, and Social Studies divides into History/Civics and Geography.

1. Languages

  • English Language: Complex Tenses, Active/Passive Voice, Direct/Indirect Speech, Phrases & Clauses, Precise Writing, Formal/Informal Letters, and Notice Writing.
  • Second Language (Hindi/Bengali): Advanced Grammar (Sandhi, Samas, Alankar), Detailed Composition, and Analysis of prescribed prose/poetry.

2. Mathematics

  • Arithmetic: Integers, Sets, Ratio & Proportion, Speed/Time/Distance, and Simple Interest.
  • Algebra: Algebraic Expressions, Linear Equations, and Fundamental Operations.
  • Geometry: Parallel lines, Construction of Angles, Quadrilaterals, and 3D shapes volume.

3. Sciences

  • Physics: Measurement (Mass, Density), Force & Pressure, Energy (Heat, Light), and Magnetism.
  • Chemistry: Elements, Compounds, and Mixtures; Symbols & Valency; Physical & Chemical Changes; Water & Air.
  • Biology: Cell Structure, Plant & Animal Tissues, Life Processes (Digestion, Respiration, Excretion).

4. History & Civics

  • History: River Valley Civilizations, The Vedic Age, Delhi Sultanate, The Mughal Empire, and The Renaissance.
  • Civics: Rural and Urban Local Self-Government, The United Nations (Class 8).

5. Geography

  • Mapping: Topographical Maps, Symbols, and Grid References.
  • Regional: Detailed study of North America, South America, Europe, Africa, Australia, and Asia.
